This year, Buffalo Game Space is partnering with SUNY University at Buffalo to host Global Game Jam 2024 for the WNY Region. Doors open at 6:00pm at the UB Center for the Arts. No experience required!
"What’s a game jam???," you might be asking? Well, it’s simply the best way to learn to make games! A game jam is an event where everyone attempts to make a game in a fixed, generally very short, amount of time. Sometimes they’re competitions, sometimes not. At BGS Game Jams, we all work together in teams or as individuals to help each other make a complete game, usually in just 48 hours - that means a fully functioning game, with a main menu, credits, and a complete gameplay loop. Game Jams usually have a theme to guide people, and it’s nearly always a secret so everyone has to start work at the same time.

We’re back and in person for the 18th official BGS Jam! Calling all artists, designers, musicians, and programmers - we’ll be getting together for 48-ish hours to make games. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, all are welcome.
